1930’s ladies
The 30’s saw a trend toward wide shoulders and narrow waistlines. Pretty dresses with ‘butterfly sleeves’ and loose calf length skirts were worn creating a very soft, feminine look.
Bias cut evening gowns with matching jackets were worn out to the theatre and elegant restaurants.
Gloves were enormously important in this period. Evening gowns were accompanied by elbow length gloves, and day dresses were worn with short or opera-length gloves.
1930’s men
Comfortable, tailored ‘drape-cut’ suits took men’s fashion by storm in the 30’s. Tail coats and cutaway coats were worn as formal evening wear.
